Kalama hadn't done well against Castle Rock recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Chinooks walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Rockets. Surprisingly, this marked the Chinooks' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The final score came out to 25-11, 21-25, 29-27, 25-10.

Emily Capen paced Kalama's offense, picking up 15 kills. Capen got some help from Ady Davenport and her 32 assists. Capen also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jacey Hutchinson, each putting up two.

Kalama is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Castle Rock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kalama is set to challenge their familiar foe La Center at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Castle Rock will face off against rival Seton Catholic at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
