Basketball Recap: Kearney Comes Up Short

Kearney dropped to 8-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They were beaten by the Lincoln North Star Navigators 67-31. The game marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jayden Norman was Kearney's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Levi Johnson held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

As for Lincoln North Star, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points over those games.

Lincoln North Star's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Castor led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Castor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Goay Gatwech, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Kearney will head out to face off against Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats will be up against the Discoverers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.77 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lincoln North Star, they will head out on the road to square off against Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Navigators' defense better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 56.6 points per game this season.
