Volleyball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Cypress Bay + How To Watch

Cypress Bay proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lightning have posted since September 21, 2024.

Sophia Guzman paced Cypress Bay's offense, picking up ten kills. Guzman got some help from Erin Huang and her 13 assists. Guzman also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Anya Noya, each putting up four.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Cypress Bay, bringing their record up to 11-6. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Cypress Bay will be taking part in a tournament against St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Basilica at 4:00 p.m.
