Softball Recap: Academy of Careers & Exploration Comes Up Short

If Academy of Careers & Exploration was feeling good fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Samueli Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle lost 26-7 to the Excelsior Charter Eagles on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagle have suffered against the Eagles since March 4, 2019.

Addison Shockley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Taylor Coffel also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Shockley wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Academy of Careers & Exploration lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Academy of Careers & Exploration's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for Excelsior Charter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3-1.

The future could be bright for both Academy of Careers & Exploration and Excelsior Charter: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Academy of Careers & Exploration will look to extend Victor Valley's six-game losing streak when they meet at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Excelsior Charter will try to hand Granite Hills their third-straight loss when the two meet at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
