Volleyball Recap: Spanish Fort's Undefeated Season over After Ten Games

Spanish Fort lost against Briarcrest Christian back in September of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Toros took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints. The game marked the first time this season in which the Toros were not able to get on the board.

Despite the loss, Spanish Fort still got an impressive performance from Cailyn Boykin, who had 18 assists. Boykin is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season.

Among those leading the charge was Sarah O'Connor, who had 20 assists and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September of 2024. Nancy Ward also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Spanish Fort fell to 9-1. As for Briarcrest Christian, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish Fort will square off against Foley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Briarcrest Christian, they will challenge Regents at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
