Preview: Miller County Pirates vs. Brooks County Trojans

The Miller County Pirates are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Brooks County Trojans at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Miller County was the victim of a tough 60-35 loss at the hands of North Florida Christian. Miller County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-39, which was the final score in Brooks County's tilt against Valdosta on Tuesday. Brooks County has not had much luck with Valdosta recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Brooks County got a solid performance out of Kanilyn Jones, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Anton Graham was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Miller County now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Brooks County, they bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Miller County took their victory against Brooks County when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a conclusive 61-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miller County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
