Football Recap: De Kalb's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

If De Kalb was feeling good fresh off their 42-16 takedown of Hughes Springs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears took a hard 45-28 fall against the Daingerfield Tigers on Friday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Bryuan Gardner and Dom Dunn certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Gardner rushed for 128 yards and one score on only nine carries, while Dunn rushed for 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Gardner's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

Isaiah Parker had a dynamite game For Daingerfield., throwing for 165 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 61 yards and one score. Those 61 rushing yards gave Parker a new career-high. Daingerfield also got a significant boost from Micah Broughton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

De Kalb's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3. As for Daingerfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3.

Coming up, De Kalb will venture away from home to challenge New Boston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Daingerfield, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Queen City at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
