Baseball Recap: Calexico Gets the Win

Calexico saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Lincoln Mustangs.

Calexico got a great performance from Antonio Gonzalez as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Gonzalez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Randy Baez, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luis Beltran, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Calexico lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Calexico's win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Calexico didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 victory against Sutter on the 2nd. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-2 defeat against San Diego on the 2nd.
