Oak Park-River Forest is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Nazareth Academy is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Oak Park-River Forest came out on top against Downers Grove North on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Huskies walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Trojans.

Leia Hammerschmidt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Henderson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Oak Park-River Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive matches.

While Nazareth Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Fenwick on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Roadrunners have won by exactly three runs.

Oak Park-River Forest's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Nazareth Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Oak Park-River Forest was able to grind out a solid victory over Nazareth Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
