Softball Game Preview: Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes vs. Fort Bend Clements Rangers

The Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes will head out to challenge the Fort Bend Clements Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Hightower knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Fort Bend Clements likes a good challenge.

Fort Bend Hightower made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fort Bend Dulles, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Fort Bend Hightower's way against Fort Bend Dulles on Tuesday as Fort Bend Hightower made off with a 16-1 victory. With that win, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Jenise Tristan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Fort Bend Hightower got a massive performance out of Baylee Bonner, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Bonner has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Lee, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Fort Bend Hightower was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Clements' undefeated season came to an end after five games on Tuesday. They came up short against Fort Bend Austin, falling 18-2. The game marked the Rangers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fort Bend Hightower's record now sits at 10-1-2. As for Fort Bend Clements, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Fort Bend Hightower took their victory against Fort Bend Clements in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. Will Fort Bend Hightower repeat their success, or does Fort Bend Clements have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
