Baseball Recap: Center Moriches Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Center Moriches barely beat Mattituck the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Tuckers with a sharp 13-2 win on Tuesday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Tuckers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Joe Hiller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Hiller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Center Moriches got a massive performance out of Luke Rebore Costanzo, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Max Rayburn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Center Moriches was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Center Moriches pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Mattituck, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Center Moriches will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tuckers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
