Park Tudor is 1-7 against Guerin Catholic since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will face off against the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Park Tudor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Heritage Christian hit Park Tudor with a six-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the Eagles, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 11th.
Park Tudor saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Ai, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against North Central on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. The Golden Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Tate Troxell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Guerin Catholic: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.
At the plate, Carson Kail was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.
Park Tudor's record now sits at 9-4. As for Guerin Catholic, their record is now 8-8.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Park Tudor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Guerin Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Park Tudor couldn't quite get it done against Guerin Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
