Baseball Game Preview: St. Michael Cardinals vs. Williams Vikings

The St. Michael Cardinals will challenge the Williams Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Michael came up short against Pinon on Wednesday, falling 18-2. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Williams got the win against Joseph City on Thursday by a conclusive 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cade Trimble made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Trimble was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ricky Gonzalez was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Q Ford was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Williams hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Joseph City struck out seven times.

Williams has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for St. Michael, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
