Baseball Recap: Smithville Has No Trouble Against West Lowndes

Smithville got themselves on the board against West Lowndes on Friday, but West Lowndes never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Panthers. The Seminoles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Clay Eaton and Carson Spann made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Eaton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Spann tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Eaton a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At the plate, Eaton scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Spann scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Eaton has become a key player for Smithville: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Spann, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chance Robinson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Smithville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 4-18. As for West Lowndes, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
