Football Recap: Meigs Takes a Loss

Meigs fell victim to Athens and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 53-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Marauders were not able to get on the board.

Anthony Sutton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 181 yards and four scores for Athens. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Sutton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Heightland, who rushed for 65 yards and one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Meigs and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Athens, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Meigs wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 26-20 victory against Minford on the 10th. As for Athens, they have also already played their next game, a 48-7 win against Wellston on the 10th.
