Softball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Godwin Eagles

Hermitage hasn't had much luck against Godwin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

Hermitage is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-7 to L.C. Bird, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Godwin is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Matoaca on Monday, but Matoaca came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors a 1-0 shutout. The one-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Katelyn Hubley, who gave up just two hits and racked up 18 Ks to keep Matoaca off the board. Hubley has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

Godwin pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Hermitage, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Hermitage suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Godwin when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
