Softball Recap: Stillwater Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stillwater ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Park Wolfpack. The victory continues a trend for the Ponies in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won seven in a row.

Ella Weisser spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Zrust, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Amber Buchkoski, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Stillwater's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Park, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stillwater will challenge Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Park, they will take on Irondale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
