Basketball Recap: Nitro Extends Home Winning Streak to 17

On Saturday, Nitro faced Musselman in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Nitro Wildcats simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Musselman Applemen 71-37. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Nitro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Smith, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Sigmon, who put up 12 points.

Nitro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Nitro pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Musselman, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Nitro has already played their next game (against Winfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Musselman will head out to face off against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
