Lexington waltzed into their match on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Waverly Central. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in March.
Lexington got a great performance from Lauren Johnson as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Johnson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Carly Williams was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Belle Powers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 21-8-2. As for Waverly Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Lexington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-3 loss against Henry County on the 12th.
