Softball Preview: Boscobel Bulldogs vs. Fennimore Golden Eagles

Boscobel is 7-2 against Fennimore since April of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Boscobel Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Fennimore Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Boscobel will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Boscobel will head into Tuesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Seneca 5-3.

Erin Knowles was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Knowles has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Knowles was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenna Wallin, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Fennimore didn't have quite enough to beat Cuba City on Monday and fell 2-1. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Fennimore has scored all season.

Boscobel's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Fennimore, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything went Boscobel's way against Fennimore in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as Boscobel made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boscobel since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
