Softball Recap: Estancia Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Estancia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Pecos Panthers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered an 11-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jhenna Valencia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ana Cuevas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Lucia Chavez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Estancia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Estancia's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Pecos, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Estancia will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
