Basketball Recap: Screven County Comes Up Short

The Screven County Gamecocks were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 73-68 to the Mount Paran Christian Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (61), the Gamecocks still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Screven County lost, don't look at Rodney Beckwith. Despite the final result, he posted 35 points. LeVez Roper was another key player, putting up ten points.

Screven County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Mount Paran Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Screven County and Metter will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2026.
