They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles. Even if the Mohawks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Jackson Kuhn made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.
On Cambridge City Lincoln's side, Dustin Lunsford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Lunsford has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylon Buckles, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Gaige Collins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waldron will welcome Morristown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Union City at 5:30 p.m. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
