Baseball Recap: Edon Comes Up Short

If Edon was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Stryker on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bombers took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilltop Cadets on Tuesday. The Bombers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cadets earlier this season, when they won 9-4.

Lane Brandt and Corbin Chrisman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Brandt went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Chrisman went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Chrisman is becoming a predictor of Edon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Wyatt Wheeler, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Edon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Hilltop, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Edon will face off against rival Pettisville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hilltop is set to challenge their familiar foe North Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
