Basketball Game Preview: University Prep Science & Math Cobra vs. Pontiac Academy for Excellence Eagles

The University Prep Science & Math Cobra will head out to face off against the Pontiac Academy for Excellence Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep Science & Math knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Pontiac Academy for Excellence likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, University Prep Science & Math was fully in charge, breezing past Detroit Public Safety Academy 72-45. Given the Cobra's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Eagles are ranked 596th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pontiac Academy for Excellence had to suffer through a 90-38 loss at the hands of Ecorse. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

University Prep Science & Math is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Pontiac Academy for Excellence, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

University Prep Science & Math won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, slipping by Pontiac Academy for Excellence 63-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for University Prep Science & Math since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
