Alameda came into Monday's match having lost 14 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Kennedy Commanders on Monday. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Commanders, too.

If you add up the scores from across all four sets (91-87) Alameda actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 11-25, 26-24.

Liliana Casias paced Alameda's offense, picking up eight kills. Casias got some help from Camila Ortiz and her nine assists. Jimena Casta?o Velasquez controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Alameda's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Kennedy, they moved to 11-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Alameda will head out to take on Englewood at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Kennedy, they will take on Denver North in a tournament on Wednesday.
