The team relied heavily on Ian Bremer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Bucher, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Cobden earned a 13-8 victory over Agape Christian on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Appleknockers.
Mason Lyerla made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cobden is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Lyerla was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Thomas Coleman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Micah Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pope County's record now sits at 6-8. As for Cobden, their record is now 3-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pope County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cobden struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
