Softball Recap: Bothell Victorious

After only two runs in their last matchup, Bothell made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lake Washington on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Kangaroos by a score of 14-9. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Kangaroos: they've now won three in a row.

Eden Marks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Berlin Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kolbi Schmer was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Bothell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Washington only posted an OBP of .353.

Bothell's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Lake Washington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Bothell nor Lake Washington have any future games scheduled.
