Baseball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

Franklin extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Corvallis Spartans. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Quakers were not able to get on the board.

As for Corvallis, their record now sits at 5-3. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Corvallis' part, Axel Prechel was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Prechel posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Roy Bannister was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Owen Gulledge was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Franklin has already played their next contest (against Dallas), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Corvallis, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-0 defeat against Hood River Valley on the 9th.
