Softball Recap: Puckett Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pelahatchie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Puckett). Everything went their way against the Pelahatchie Chiefs on Wednesday as they made off with a 22-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wolves with their most commanding win of the season.

Raegan Hardin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Shivers, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Aubrey Pardue was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Puckett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Puckett has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Pelahatchie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-5.

Puckett has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against St. Andrew's Episcopal on the 3rd. As for Pelahatchie, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-2 loss against Pisgah on the 3rd.
