Baseball Game Preview: Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan vs. St. Rita Mustangs

For the second straight game, Chicago Mt. Carmel will face off against St. Rita. The Caravan will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chicago Mt. Carmel will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Monday, Chicago Mt. Carmel was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Rita, taking the game 11-6.

Chicago Mt. Carmel got a great performance from Jake Matise as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Matise has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Chicago Mt. Carmel let Christian Clark and Joey Ireland run wild. Clark scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Ireland scored a run while going 1-for-5. Another player making a difference was Tj McQuillan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Chicago Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for St. Rita, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
