Baseball Game Preview: Santa Teresa Saints vs. Leland Chargers

For the second straight game, Santa Teresa will face off against Leland. The Saints will be playing at home against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Teresa is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Santa Teresa didn't have quite enough to beat Leland and fell 2-1.

For Leland's part, Sam Mao tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Mao is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-1 (and 1-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Leland's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caden Canter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Leland and bumps their season record up to 6-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Santa Teresa, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
