Baseball Recap: Elkton Find Success

Elkton won the last time they faced Perryville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Golden Elks walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Elks.

Daymien Phillips and Caleb Potter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Phillips struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Potter pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Phillips went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Potter went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that Phillips launched this season.

In other batting news, Chase Monaghan was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taino Jurry, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Elkton's record is now 6-2-1. As for Perryville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

Coincidentally, Elkton and Perryville will both be playing Rising Sun the next time they take the field. The Golden Elks will host the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
