Basketball Recap: Brush Takes a Loss

Brush played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Strasburg Indians, falling 68-40. While losing is never fun, the Beetdiggers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Indians are ranked 14th).

Despite the loss, Brush still got an impressive performance from Alexander Aguilar Saucedo, who posted seven points and five boards. Logan Synder also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Strasburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cade Hemphill led the charge by going 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and three steals. That's the most steals Hemphill has posted since back in February of 2024. Nick Glatfelter was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Brush and nudges their season record down to 7-7. As for Strasburg, their record is now 11-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brush will take on Windsor Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windsor Charter Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.4 points per game this season. As for Strasburg, they will challenge Liberty Common at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Liberty Common's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
