Football Recap: Comer Comes Up Short

If Comer was feeling good fresh off their 38-14 takedown of Childersburg last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers were outmatched by the Piedmont Bulldogs and fell 61-0. Considering the last time the Tigers couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.

A big part of Piedmont's win came down to the chemistry between Cole Austin and his top target Rollie Pinto. Austin threw for 307 yards and four TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes while Pinto picked up 166 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Noah Bolton, who rushed for 97 yards and one score.

Comer's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Piedmont, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Comer will challenge Beulah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Piedmont, they will face off against Locust Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
