Softball Game Preview: Gunn Titans vs. Milpitas Trojans

The Gunn Titans will venture away from home to challenge the Milpitas Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gunn is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Gunn came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Burlingame by a score of 9-7 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Titans have suffered since March 4th.

Katie Fitzhugh and Tess Bogart did some serious damage despite the final result: Fitzhugh went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Bogart went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Nicole Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Milpitas might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Los Gatos who claimed the real prize. The Trojans fell 8-3 to the Wildcats. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Milpitas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Cabrera, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Gunn's record is now 6-12. As for Milpitas, their record now sits at 4-11.

Gunn couldn't quite get it done against Milpitas when the teams last played back in March as they fell 14-10. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
