The Osborn Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Harper Woods Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Osborn has five straight victories, Harper Woods has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Osborn not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29th (when they won 26-1). They blew past Mumford 20-2. Considering the Knights have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
J Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Williams was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on A Woods, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played. D Conway was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Avondale hit Harper Woods with a eight-run fifth inning last Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pioneers came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 15-5.
Harper Woods saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myron Baylor, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Baylor's first of the season.
Harper Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Osborn, their record is now 23-3.
Harper Woods' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Osborn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Harper Woods, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Osborn's hitters?
Osborn might still be hurting after the 17-4 loss they got from Harper Woods when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
