Wise won the last time they faced Laurel and Lalah Washington did her part to make sure it happened again. The Pumas walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Spartans on Monday for which the team can thank Washington, who had 18 kills, 13 aces, 11 digs, and two blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season.

Wise had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-13.

Wise's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Boyd, who had 25 digs. Another player making a difference was Meisha Sykes, who had 11 kills, five aces, and four blocks.

Wise was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 28 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests.

Wise's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Laurel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Wise will take on Parkdale at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Laurel has already played their next match (against DuVal), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
