Southwestern gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past the East Alton-Wood River Oilers 10-1. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 6-1.

Southwestern's offense was hitting East Alton-Wood River from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. BRAM BEUTTEL led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for five goals all by himself.

Coincidentally, Southwestern and East Alton-Wood River will both be playing Carlyle the next time they take the pitch. The Piasa Birds will head out to face the Indians/Lady Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Oilers will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
