Softball Recap: West Springfield Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

West Springfield made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Robinson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans blew past the Rams 8-2 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Andrea Yagui spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, West Springfield let Kate Middendorf and Alexa Harvey run wild. Middendorf went 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI, while Harvey went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Middendorf hit this season. Elaina Primozic was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

West Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Robinson only posted a batting average of .214.

West Springfield pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Robinson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
