Softball Recap: Dominican Knights vs. Catholic Central Hilltoppers
While Dominican didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-5), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Catholic Central Hilltoppers on Thursday as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Lily Weiler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Weiler was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Cate Wahlen was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Vivian Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Dominican was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
