Softball Game Preview: El Capitan Eagles vs. Mayer Wildcats

The El Capitan Eagles will challenge the Mayer Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

El Capitan is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Page just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Sand Devils, falling 10-1. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Sand Devils' pitcher proved too tough.

El Capitan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Hammon, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Aiyanna Hammon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mayer's offense. They lost 15-0 to Joseph City on Thursday. Mayer just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.

El Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 11-9-1. As for Mayer, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
