Basketball Game Preview: Vermilion Sailors vs. Columbian Tornadoes

Vermilion and Columbian are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Vermilion Sailors will challenge the Columbian Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vermilion is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Vermilion is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Padua Franciscan on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Vermilion was dealt a 78-42 defeat at the hands of Padua Franciscan. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Bruins are ranked 209th).

Columbian played in conference for the first time last Monday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They came out on top against Clyde by a score of 45-35.

Vermilion's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Columbian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Vermilion opened the new year with a less-than-successful 44-33 defeat to Columbian. Can Vermilion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
