Preview: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. West Forsyth Titans
Two dominant guards in Antoine Jones Jr. and Jacari Brim are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The R.J. Reynolds Demons will head out on the road to square off against the West Forsyth Titans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. R.J. Reynolds is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, R.J. Reynolds lost to East Forsyth at home by a decisive 68-49 margin. R.J. Reynolds has not had much luck with East Forsyth recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
R.J. Reynolds might have lost, but man, Jones Jr. was a machine: he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Jones Jr. hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Thomas Boone was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, even though Davie scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, West Forsyth still came out on top. West Forsyth took their game against Davie 72-59.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Forsyth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron White, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Brim, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.
R.J. Reynolds now has a losing record at 10-11. As for West Forsyth, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: R.J. Reynolds have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like West Forsyth struggles in that department as they've made 46.6% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
R.J. Reynolds came up short against West Forsyth in their previous meeting back in January, falling 70-59. Can R.J. Reynolds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
