Volleyball Game Preview: Barron Golden Bears vs. Ashland Oredockers

Barron is 7-1 against Ashland since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Golden Bears will welcome the Oredockers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Barron has three straight victories, Ashland has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

If Northwestern wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Barron, they should've done a better job of containing Abby Miller. The Golden Bears came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 3-1 on Thursday thanks in part to Miller, who had 17 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In the three sets Barron was on fire: they won each by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 18-25, 25-14, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Ashland came up short against Unity on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Ashland was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Unity's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-16, 25-17.

Ashland's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Barron, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.

Everything went Barron's way against Ashland in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Barron made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Golden Bears repeat their success, or do the Oredockers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
