Softball Game Preview: LEE Volunteers vs. Johnson Jaguars

The LEE Volunteers will head out on the road to challenge the Johnson Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row dating back to last season, LEE turned things around against SA Roosevelt on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 26-8 margin over the Rough Riders. The Volunteers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Audrey Villarreal was a standout: she scored four runs and stole Nine bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Liliana Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs.

LEE always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .520 that SA Roosevelt posted.

Meanwhile, Johnson had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Mavericks as they made off with a 15-3 win. Considering the Jaguars have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Johnson pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for LEE, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
