Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Lions vs. Saltillo Tigers

The Hamilton Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Saltillo Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hamilton's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Saltillo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

If Hamilton beats Saltillo with seven runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Lions didn't even let Walnut on the board on Tuesday, marking the Lions' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Saltillo owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They came out on top against Grenada by a score of 3-0. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Not much got past Avery Holly, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Grenada off the board. Holly has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Saltillo's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Avery Little, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Hamilton's record now sits at 21-3. As for Saltillo, their record is now 5-16-1.

Hamilton came out on top in a nail-biter against Saltillo in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
