Recap: Del Lago Academy Firebirds vs. St. Joseph Academy Crusaders
The Del Lago Academy Firebirds waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 65-53 win over St. Joseph Academy. For Del Lago Academy, this counts as revenge for the 63-54 defeat the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, St. Joseph Academy still got an impressive performance from Angel Ochoa, who scored 27 points. That was a full 50.9% of St. Joseph Academy's points, marking the 24th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Justice Ahiafor, who scored 13 points.
Del Lago Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.
Del Lago Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will be playing at home against the Firebirds at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
