Fennville took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Saugatuck, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blackhawks won by a run and slipped past the Trailblazers 10-9. For the Blackhawks, this counts as revenge for the 11-5 win the Trailblazers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Lily Achterhof spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Fennville let Marynn Winne and Cailey Mokma run wild. Winne went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Mokma went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was Winne's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Vivian Rasmussen, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Fennville's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2. As for Saugatuck, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trailblazers beat Fennville by a score of 15-0 later that day.
