Baseball Game Preview: Hardin Northern Polar Bears vs. Upper Scioto Valley Rams

The Hardin Northern Polar Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardin Northern will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Monday, Hardin Northern got the win against Temple Christian by a conclusive 16-5. Considering the Polar Bears have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Elgin hit Upper Scioto Valley with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams came up short against the Comets, falling 12-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost nine in a row.

Wyatt Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hardin Northern pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Upper Scioto Valley, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-7.

Everything went Hardin Northern's way against Upper Scioto Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hardin Northern made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Polar Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
